About Gyomaendrőd ...

Gyomaendrőd came into being on 1st January 1982, when Gyoma and Endrőd were united. Based on the common past, the proximity, the cousinship and economic relationship, the two settlements enter the third millennium with hope and reality of the faith in common future.
Gyomaendrőd The settlement, which on 1st March 1989 was given town rank, is a dominant economic, administrative and cultural centre of eastern Békés County. The sole proprietors and corporations in the agricultural sector, operating in the rural land of more than 30000 hectares, provide the living to the majority of the inhabitants. In the field of industry, the shoe manufacturing and printing are dominant, but there are several enterprises in the area of wood and food industry. The developing and updating trade and service offer – in some areas – services of European standard to the local community and through passengers.
The main employer of the town is the local authority, which offers jobs for the local white-collars in the field of child welfare, education, social services, health care, sport and culture, and up-to-date services to/for the inhabitants of the town and the area. The main road 46 and the Budapest-Lökösháza railway line run across the city of 17 thousand inhabitants. The high-class transport facility, the opportunities and conditions offered to the investors, the hospitality, the diverse palette of leisure activities and entertainment could attract both the economic society and the visitors spending their free time here.
